Newell Electromechanical — ERP, HR & Procurement
Three integrated systems running an entire engineering firm — one source of truth, end to end.
Newell Electromechanical — ERP, HR & Procurement
Overview
For Newell Electromechanical, a contract engineering firm running 50+ concurrent projects, we designed and built three integrated systems — ERP, HR, and procurement — that run their entire operation from one platform. The result is real-time visibility across every contract and 15+ hours a week saved on administrative overhead across the team.
The Challenge
What needed to change
Newell ran 50+ concurrent engineering contracts with no centralized system holding it together. Project status lived in spreadsheets, contracts in email chains, and employee data in scattered local files. Leadership had no real-time visibility into operations, contract health, or resource allocation — meaning problems surfaced late and decisions were made on stale information. For a firm managing that many contracts, the absence of a single source of truth is a direct risk to margins, delivery, and client trust.
Our Approach
How we engineered it
We treated this as an operational backbone, not a website — designing three integrated systems around one shared source of truth so ERP, HR, and procurement speak the same data. We built the ERP for project and contract management, the HR system for the people side, and a full procurement system so purchasing flows end to end through the same platform. We hosted everything on dedicated cloud infrastructure that Newell fully owns and controls, because an enterprise should own the system that runs its business. We provided hands-on IT support and full team training through rollout, so adoption was real and the systems were used from day one.
What We Built
The systems behind the result
ERP — project and contract management
Project dashboards with milestone tracking, contract document storage with version control, and a client-facing status portal give real-time control over 50+ concurrent contracts.
HR system
A searchable employee database with role management and complete employee records brings the people side of operations into one system instead of scattered local files.
Purchase / procurement system
Manages purchase requests, approvals, supplier and vendor records, and order tracking end to end, so procurement runs through the same platform as everything else.
Client-facing project portal
Clients see live project status directly, replacing status-update emails and building trust through transparency.
Owned cloud infrastructure
The full platform runs on dedicated cloud infrastructure that Newell owns and controls outright — the enterprise owns the system that runs its business.
Hands-on rollout and training
We provided hands-on IT support and full team training during rollout, ensuring the three systems were adopted and used from day one.
The Impact
Results after launch
concurrent engineering projects tracked in real time
hours/week saved on administrative overhead across the team
integrated systems — ERP, HR, and procurement on one platform
Tech & Why
The stack, and the reasoning
Next.js and Node.js over PostgreSQL gave us one consistent stack across three systems that genuinely share data, which is what makes a single source of truth possible. AWS with S3 handles dedicated, client-owned infrastructure and reliable contract-document storage with version control. Building all three on the same foundation is exactly what let procurement, HR, and project data integrate end to end rather than becoming three new silos.
